§ 103.01. Municipal authorities; elective officers; qualifications; vacancies.

  • (a)

    The municipal authorities of the City shall consist of a Mayor, City Recorder and five members of Council who shall be elected by the qualified voters of the City. The Mayor, Recorder and councilmen shall be residents of the City and shall be qualified voters entitled to vote for members of its governing body. Each official so elected shall continue to be a resident of the City during his entire term of office.

    (b)

    If any person elected to Council fails to qualify within 20 days after he is declared elected, or resigns, or ceases to be a resident of the City, then his office shall thereby be vacated and Council shall fill such vacancy by the election of some qualified person for such unexpired term. No person shall be declared elected by Council unless he receives the votes of at least a majority of the members elected thereto and the minutes of such meeting show that fact.
