The Building Code Enforcement Official shall be a competent person for the duties of his office. The Building Code Enforcement Official shall not be engaged or interested in the building business in any way or manner. Council shall fix a proper salary for him. The Building Code Enforcement Official shall see that the ordinances of the City and laws of the State concerning building construction are enforced and perform such other duties as the Mayor or Council may direct.
